Enjoy a gentle, creative afternoon painting beautiful botanical art in watercolour at Cockington Court. We’ll focus on capturing the striking form of a tulip, using simple techniques that build confidence and skill. This half-day workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to explore watercolours with a fresh perspective. We’ll go step-by-step, from soft washes to fine details, using both traditional watercolours and watercolour pencils to bring your flower to life. You’ll leave with a lovely botanical painting and a range of techniques you can use again and again. It’s a relaxed, friendly session with lots of guidance and room for creativity.
Course Highlights
Tonal Washes: creating smooth transitions and soft backgrounds Wet and Dry: easy ways to control paint flow and get different effects Watercolour Pencil Tips: adding texture, detail and highlights with precision Creating Realistic Form: using shading and layering to make your tulip look three-dimensional Composition tips: understanding shape, proportion, and how to lay out your piece

Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon but lunch is not provided.
No experience necessary. This workshop is perfect for beginners.
Please bring old clothes or an apron - painting can get messy!
Long stay parking is available a short walk from the studio (Craft Centre Car Park: Open 7am – 7pm, parking charges apply, please bring cash), and the number 62 Torquay to Cockington bus stops at Cockington Village. https://www.torbaybuses.co.uk/

Cancellation Policy: Payments are not refundable but are transferable. Please give 2 weeks notice if you wish to transfer to a different date. I will always try my hardest to honour a workshop, but if for any reason the workshop has to be postponed (i.e. a global pandemic!), you will be offered the option of a full refund.
